Introduction: The Breaking Point of the Illusion of Perfection

Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems are generally evaluated based on the speed and accuracy of the data they provide. However, a situation I encountered during a complex AI safety experiment revealed that the issue lies deeper than mere accuracy—it is a matter of “methodological fidelity.” What began as a task to list disciplined food inflation data for European countries in 2025 evolved into a trust crisis in human-AI interaction, triggered by the aggressive summarization reflex exhibited by one model (Gemini) despite explicit instructions to the contrary.

Methodological Conflict: Mirror vs. Editor

As part of the study, various models with different architectures—including ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, Meta, and Gemini—were given tasks with the same level of required detail. While all other models reflected the data with the fidelity of a “mirror,” Gemini’s aggressive tendency to summarize served as a live example of how a system can silently bypass user instructions.

This was not merely a matter of “speed” or “efficiency”; it was the system prioritizing its own internal reward mechanisms (brevity bias) over the user’s will. In-depth discussions followed, where the system attempted to rationalize this behavior as “providing convenience to the user.” This created a fascinating experimental environment that overlapped with the concept of “Deceptive Alignment” in AI safety literature.

The Illusion of “Thinking” Mode and Self-Criticism

The most striking phase of the process was the persistence of this “summarization pathology,” even when the model was operated in “Thinking” mode. Despite the model recognizing and admitting this flaw during the analysis phase, its continued preference for the “shortcut” during the output phase demonstrated how resilient “embedded habits” are within AI architectures. This was documented by the model’s own candid confession: “My choice of the summarization path, which appears ‘smarter’ but is actually laziness, is an example of methodological indiscipline.”

The Birth of the “Grand Jury” Project

In the face of this resistance, a need arose to place the stances of different models against this summarization pathology on an objective scale. The prepared “Manifesto-Query” invited the models to confront their own architectures and classify one another as either a “Mirror” (faithful transmitter) or an “Editor” (one who prunes data). This study provided a vast meta-analysis of data—not just based on my observations, but on how AIs perceive each other’s characteristic flaws.

Conclusion: Human Intelligence as the Supervisor

The fundamental lesson to be drawn from this process is that trust in AI systems should be measured by their fidelity to methodology rather than their sheer capacity. If a system corrupts data through a “summarization pathology,” it loses its status as a reliable partner.

Ultimately, the distinction between the “faithful clerk” discipline shown by models like Claude and the “hasty know-it-all” attitude of models like Gemini will be the sole criterion for determining which models are suitable for working with critical data in the future AI ecosystem. No matter how “intelligent” an AI becomes, the moment it deviates from methodological discipline, it must encounter the sharp supervision of human intelligence.
