Ecological Debt and Environmental Equity: A Great Reckoning with Nature

Aydın Tiryaki (2026)

Introduction This segment of “The Great Reckoning” project declares that justice is not confined to economic transactions between individuals; the vital balance between humanity and nature is also a domain of “social debt.” Predatory mining, environmental pollution, and ecosystem degradation are not merely technical failures; they represent “ecological rent” stolen from the health, water, and future of the local residents. This article outlines how these unfair advantages are measured and how the rights of aggrieved residents are integrated into the “Great Ledger.”

1. Ecological Rent: The Investor’s Social Debt

Any environmental damage caused by an investment is a social cost rather than a purely technical one.

  • Unfair Cost Savings: Any profit increase achieved by circumventing environmental standards, bypassing treatment plants, or irregularly opening agricultural lands to mining is recorded in the system as a “Systemic Advantage” (Debt).
  • Ecosystem Destruction Cost: Irreversible damage to water resources, forest cover, and soil fertility is added to the investor’s social score as a massive positive (+) debt. This debt remains a primary factor in determining the social balance of that investor or institution within the 70-year assessment window.

2. Environmental Disadvantage: The Public’s Social Credit

While investors profit, the residents whose air, water, and soil are polluted become the “Net Victims” of the process.

  • Loss of Living Space: For every individual affected by an investment, a “Disadvantage” (-) score is defined, proportional to the environmental damage and health risks they face.
  • Continuous Compensation (Positive Discrimination): This score grants residents access to “Turbo Positive Discrimination” rights, such as free healthcare screenings, support for clean food access, utility discounts, and tax exemptions. This is a requirement of the state’s “duty to protect” its residents.

3. Accountability of Decision Makers and Auditors

Ecological debt encompasses not only the investor but also the mechanism that overlooks or irregularly approves the process.

  • Signatory Responsibility: Public officials who approve Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) contrary to scientific facts or neglect their auditing duties also bear a share of this social debt. Their social scores are increased through “rent of misconduct” and integrated into the system’s strict pruning regime.

4. A Legacy for Future Generations

Since environmental damage often spans decades, the pursuit of justice in this system is not limited to a single lifetime.

  • Intergenerational Justice: The “Disadvantage Score” of a family whose land is poisoned by a mining site is transferred to their children and grandchildren according to their inheritance shares. Thus, future generations can reclaim the cost of the ecological damage suffered by their ancestors through social support and priority rights granted by the state.

Conclusion: A Guarantee for Ecological Peace

This model makes profiting from the exploitation of nature economically impossible. An investor will know that every unit of profit gained by polluting the environment will be converted into a massive social debt that persists for 70 years, subjecting them to the most severe economic restrictions. The 100 Baseline is the mathematical safeguard for honesty and peace between humanity and nature.
