Looking at the last 80 years of Turkey, we see that this trust has been severely wounded within the triangle of “amnesties,” “privileges,” and “rent-seeking.” This study presents the “Great Reckoning” model, designed to fundamentally transform this distorted order—where honesty has been punished—without confiscating anyone’s property.
1. The Social Balance Line: A Coordinate System
Our model places social justice on a mathematical foundation. Imagine a graph with a Zero Point serving as the “Social Balance Line.”
- The Positive Zone (+): Those who gained unearned wealth through zoning and building amnesties, benefited from tax and social security “peace” records, or utilized low-interest state loans for wealth transfer.
- The Negative Zone (-): Those who strictly followed the rules, paid their taxes on time, never resorted to illegal construction, and consequently fell behind in the system due to their integrity.
2. Individual Social Balance and Offsetting (Mahsuplaşma)
True justice requires acknowledging the gray areas in every individual’s life story. A person may not have exclusively gained advantages or remained disadvantaged throughout their life. Therefore, the system utilizes the “Individual Offsetting” method.

We paid the price for remaining honest; we shall receive the reward. Until this account is settled, social peace is but a dream!
5. Dynamic Transformation and the Welfare Elevator
Once the model is operational, as the disadvantaged are elevated through positive discrimination, the general welfare average of society will mathematically shift upward.
- Shift of the Line: The Social Balance Line undergoes a transformation and rises.
- Continuous Improvement: As the average rises, new segments that fall below the line begin to benefit from the advantages offered by the system. Thus, the entire society is “pulled” toward a higher standard of living without touching private property.
6. Sociological Reality and Mass Resistance
Implementing this model is not easy, as it faces not a small minority, but a “status quo mass” consisting of millions of people.
- Millions who benefited from zoning amnesties may perceive the “balancing” brought by this model as a threat.
- Through political manipulation, the model may be labeled as “wealth enmity” or the “resurgence of old regimes.”
- However, this resistance is the price of justice. This model is not just an economic regulation; it is an ethical revolution where society confronts its own values.
7. Conclusion: The End of Festivities, The Beginning of Normalcy
When the reckoning is complete, the “period of festivities” for the advantaged will end, and “normal days” will begin where everyone competes under equal rules. For the disadvantaged, the accumulated injustices of years will be smoothed out, ensuring they reach the social balance level they deserve. This is the sole constitution for the future social peace of Turkey.
