The Intelligent Eye: AI-Powered Inspection Vehicles

Designed similarly to Google Street View cars, “Digital Inspection Vehicles” equipped with high-precision sensors can usher in a new era of road safety. These vehicles do not just capture images; they perform a “safety X-ray” of the road.

• Sensor Technology: Utilizing LiDAR, 3D scanners, and computer vision (AI), these vehicles measure road slope, asphalt grip, and barrier height with millimeter precision.
• Risk Analysis: AI processes this data by comparing it with current traffic loads and speed limits. It generates real-time reports such as “The barrier height here is insufficient for buses” or “The ground friction is below standards.”

Dual Oversight: State and Civil Society Side by Side

These inspection tools should not be the sole monopoly of the state.

• The Hybrid Model: Both public institutions and civil society organizations (universities, chambers of engineers, foundations) should operate their own inspection vehicles and aggregate the data in an independent pool.
• Transparency and Open Data: All safety data produced—including 360-degree camera logs and AI interpretations—should be accessible to the public via an online portal. Transparency brings accountability.

The Power of Data: Accountability

This digital inspection system eliminates excuses like “we didn’t know” or “we didn’t notice the negligence.”

• Time-Stamped Reports: If a system reports a barrier as inadequate months before an accident, it serves as undeniable legal evidence of “service failure.”
• Driver Alerts: This data can be integrated into navigation systems, warning drivers in advance: “Caution, the barrier standard in the curve 500 meters ahead is below safety levels.”
